In other words, people who invest full-time and also have raised a limited partner-backed fund, such as Jeff Clavier of SoftTech VC, Chris Dixon of Founder Collective, David Lee of SV Angel, Dave McClure of 500 Startups, Manu Kumar of K9 Ventures and Aydin Senkut of Felicis Ventures. Mitch Kapor is the well-known founder of Lotus.Īlso on the list are professional angels or super angels or micro-VCs, depending on what you want to call them (all also have deep operating experience). For similar reasons they're also closely watched by top venture capitalists and angels for signals of what's next in technology. Others on the list with extensive startup and operating experience: Jonathan Abrams of Friendster Auren Hoffman of Raplef Evan Williams of Twitter Gil Penchina, formerly CEO of Wikia Ben Ling, COO at Badoo and formerly of Facebook and Google Jason Calacanis of Mahalo Ariel Poler, who founded three startups Adam Rifkin, founder of Renkoo and David E. These founders or operators are in high demand among entrepreneurs because they have done it themselves and can offer real advice and other help. Also included are Paige Craig of Betterworks, Matt Mullenweg of Automattic, Marissa Mayer of Google, Joshua Schachter of Delicious and Tasty Labs and Sizhao Yang of Betterworks and MyMiniLife/FarmVille. They include Dave Morin, CEO of Path Keith Rabois, COO of Square Kevin Rose, formerly of Milk and Digg and now at Google and Max Levchin, cofounder of PayPal and founder of Slide. These are not just rich guys writing checks. It includes a number of well-known CEOs or operators who invest on the side. Looking at the list, what jumped out at me was that pretty much everyone has a deep background either founding a startup or heading operations at a big company. So as of now, AngelList does not publish data on dollars invested or exited. It enables people to connect and make introductions. One more note on AngelList: it doesn't broker the actual deals. This list does not include venture capitalists, or seed investors who have grown to venture capital size, because the intent is to focus on those who are specifically seed stage investors. About 2,600 startups have gotten at least one introduction to an investor, and 2,100 investors have accepted at least one request for an introduction to an entrepreneur through the site. AngelList has had a total of 20,000 introductions done through the site. However, these days more and more deals are coming together on AngelList and many top investors are active on the site. Which doesn't necessarily mean it's the same in real life or that those on this list are necessarily doing the best deals. Of course, the list comprises who is most influential on AngelList, the website. (If "most followed" is who's most popular among everyone on AngelList, "most influential" is who's most popular among the top tech investors on the site.) Rather, this list is an indication of who Silicon Valley's top investors think are the most important investors to follow and, potentially, invest with. It's different from AngelList's "most followed" list, which is made up of just who has the most followers. This "Most Influential" list is made up of active angel or seed investors who are most followed by other important or well-known investors.
